I turned a Premier League club’s football pitch…

…into sporting merchandise

…and the UK Gov gave me £35,000 to invent it…

Problem

Thousands of tonnes of pitch grass are discarded every year and is toxic in landfill.

Opportunity

Turn that waste into sporting merchandise that is made from the pitch that fans love by turning grass cuttings into ceramic merch.

Investment

The UK Government backed my idea with a £35,000 innovation grant.

Process

I worked with R&D specialists in Stoke-on-Trent, the home of British pottery, to develop an entirely new manufacturing process.
Using 20kg of grass cuttings from Fulham FC's ‘Craven Cottage’ pitch, the team analysed the material, developed a bespoke clay recipe, and produced three prototypes to prove the concept.

Future

The project is now entering investor conversations ahead of discussions with sports clubs and partners.
